September is Suicide Awareness Month
New Podcast Episodes Are Out
In recognition of Suicide Awareness Month, I thought it would be appropriate to have those types of dicussions on Choose to Live, Love & Grow. It's important to have difficult discussions around important topics such as this.

On September 9th's episode, we heard Garret Biss, a retired Marine Corps pilot, talk about the identity loss when transitioning out of the military. Unfortunately, it is a very common event. A study from the VA shows that in 2021, veteran suicide was at an average of 17.5 people per day. If we help veterans work on their identity and understand the the transition process, maybe we can start to get that number down, instead of consistently up.
You can checkout Garret's episode here.
The lastest episode focuses specifically on suicidal ideation from Gina Cavalier, someone who survived and healed from her own ideations. One of the biggest takeaways from our conversation was that we have to find a way to reconnect to our body when we feel numb. Turn on some music and dance. Feel the sun on your face. Don't let people choose to hurt themselves in order to feel something again.
You can listen to Gina's and my full conversation here.

What Can You Do?
Remind the people that are closest to you that you love them. Look in the mirror today and remind yourself, that you love you. Do a small act of kindness. You never know how impactful it can be. One small act of kindness always inspires another.
How else can we bring awareness to suicide?
