Have You Reflected On Your Goals Lately?

We're halfway through the year now and I've got a question for you: Have you reflected on your goals lately? This is one significant factor when it comes to people succeeding at their New Year's Resolutions or goals set after the New Year.  We set it, then forget about it.

Don't be that person.

Look back at the goals you've set and ask yourself if you're still alligned with them.  Do they still challenge you, but also bring you joy?

Are you looking at your goals and you're frustrated because you haven't crossed that finish line? If so, you're not alone.  When we have a fixed mindset, that's all the high-achievers focus on: The achievement, accolade or completion of the task.

When you focus on the ending, you miss the journey and growth you're currently on. Reading the end of the story or watching the end of a movie doesn't give you the same impact that when you watch it completely.  You aren't as emotionally drawn to the characters or the outcome.  You don't see all the characters had to endure to taste that victory.  So, don't do that to yourself.  Don't rob yourself of that growth.

Embrace the journey on the way to finishing your goals.

Once you've reflected on your goals and ensured they are still aligned to your dream, then check your habits.  Are your habits helping you complete your goals or are they hurting you?

As Dr. Gina Cleo says in the most recent podcast episode, "Ideally, you want to do one habit at a time."

We don't want to overload our system to many changes at the same time because our brains our built for survival, not growth.  So, focus on one habit and work on it until you have autononmy, then start the next one.

Are you struggling with your goals and habits this year?

When Was the Last Time You Tried Something New?
In the last email we talked about our relationship with food. So, when was the last time you were adventorous with your food? Have you really paid attention to what food brings your body joy and what causes it to be sluggish? In the latest episode of Choose to Live, Love & Grow, Kate Galli and I talk about what it is like being on a plant-based diet. When you want to eat a certain way, it can b...
How Is Your Relationship With Food?
When was the last time you were asked this question? It's not a question we hear often or even ask ourselves often, but it begs the question: why not? When you look at food, do you look at it as sustanance so you can continue your tasks at hand? Maybe you look at it in a sense of indulgence, or a reward after a long day. How should we look at it if we truly want to be the best version of oursel...
New Year, Better Me
One of my biggest pet peeves when it comes to the new year is the phrase that everyone uses as a marketing ploy "New Year, New Me." Ā This phrase grinds my gears so much because it adds to the pressure of a New Year's resolution. Ā When people use this phrase, their mindset is that they will be a brand new person in the new year as if one day they woke up from a slumber. The issue is: it takes ye...
